e-CAST GLOSSARY
GROSS DELIVERY
This is the total number of emails sent.
NET DELIVERY
This is the total number of emails received i.e. Gross Delivery excluding Bounces.
BOUNCES
These are emails that have not been delivered and are categorised into two types; hard and soft. Hard bounces occur when the email address is invalid. Soft bounces show that the email address could be valid but delivery has been thwarted for other reasons including anti-spam filters, firewalls, mailboxes too full and size limitation.
OPEN RATES
This is the number of emails that both reached the target audience and were opened. Please be aware that this statistic, due to the reasons below, may not exactly state the number of emails actually opened.
1. If a recipient opens the email and forwards to a colleague who also opens the email, then this will count as two opens.
2. If a recipient has disabled caching setting and they open the email twice then it will show as two opens.
3. If a user has images turned off then it will not register as an open.
4. The same is true if the recipient reads the email when they are not on-line.
CLICK-THROUGH RATES
This measures each time a recipient clicks on any item within the email that has an underlying link to a website. Two statistics are supplied; the total number of click-throughs and the number of unique recipient click-throughs. For e
